Cynthia Jane Lopez, Obituary

Cynthia Jane Lopez, born March 29, 1954, in Parsons, KS, passed away on her 70th birthday, March 29, 2024, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully transitioned into eternal rest.

Cindy was the beloved daughter of Richard Allen and Norma Weeks. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Allen, but leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Adam Lopez, and their children: Courtney & Joel, Carlee & Preston, Kiera & Jason, Maria, and Michael & Chelsea. She was a cherished grandmother to Landon, Lauren, Quiency, Seth, Abbie, ELyjah, Kieson, Mia, Brielle, Aaliyah, Aziah, Ariella, Maddyn, and Camden. Cynthia also leaves behind her siblings: Debbie Eastman, Diana Wintle, Jeff Allen, Chad Allen, Lori Talley, Sissy Julian, Anthony Weeks, and Maggie Weeks.

Cindy and Adam first met while teaching at Parsons High School and were united in marriage on June 1, 1996, in Pittsburg, KS. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from Pitt State and dedicated over 30 years to a career in teaching, with a special focus on special education. Her impact on others in her career can be heard and felt all over; not only did she have a way with her words but her unwavering actions to those in need were everlasting.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cindy's true passions lay in spending time with her family, being able to create timeless memories with her children but most of all the blessings that were her many grandchildren, reading as much about the world and the stories hidden within pages, learning from others and having all the time in the world to listen to anyone that came through her door or needed the time for it. She's always been amazed by the beauty of horses, the elegance of hummingbirds and the meticulous ambiance of flowers and the comfort they brought with them.

Throughout her life, Cindy was actively involved in her community, she volunteered with the church throughout her life, sacrificed countless hours to her children's passions and endeavors, she also made it a mission to help and aid at the dog shelter, to give love where love was needed; was an avid Mary-Kay entrepreneur, ensuring her friends and family could try to match her level of fashion and beauty.

Sweet, caring, the biggest heart of anyone you had known, loved all things, people and animals, was strong minded and strong willed, a true warrior and wonder woman throughout her life. She knew no stranger, the world was her ocean to mingle, and she had a knack for making new friends everywhere she went; to her there was never a stranger, just someone to journey forward with.

A graveside service to celebrate Cindy's life will be held on April 12, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery outside of Cherryvale, KS, (across from highway 169 via Montgomery County Rd 5000 onto 5300).
