Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Cynthia Marie Allison, 68, of Cherryvale, Kansas, who departed this life on May 30, 2026. Born on August 27, 1957, in Independence, Kansas. Cindy was a beloved mother, MiMi, wife and friend whose spirit lives on in the many lives she touched and in the things she lovingly restored, each one a quiet reminder of her enduring presence.

Cindy was a strong and determined woman who faced life’s challenges with courage, including her hard-fought battle with breast cancer. While she was talented, creative and accomplished in many ways, her greatest pride was being a mother and “MiMi.” She loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure and the love, strength, and values she poured into her family can be seen in each and every one of them.

She channeled her passion for history and the arts into a lifelong career, founding and operating her antique restoration business, Revamped Vintage Upholstery, for nearly 30 years. Through her work, she used artistry and skill to give new life to pieces others might have overlooked, an approach that reflected not only her artistic eye but also her belief in beauty, history, and possibility.

Cindy’s greatest accomplishment was her restoration her beloved 1899 Queen Anne Victorian home. It stood as a reflection of who she was unique, expressive, and unmistakable style. Cindy also had a special love for her dogs. Her dear Lexi and especially her dachshunds, who were a cherished presence in her life.

She will be remembered as loving, family-centered, and delightfully eccentric. Cindy had a signature sense of style that was entirely her own, she made the world around her more beautiful and extended into every part of her life. Whether she was painting, working with ceramics, sewing, needlepointing, or restoring furniture, she brought passion to everything she touched. She had a gift for seeing what something could become and making it so.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Ray Allison; her children, Sheree Smith, Clint Dean (Amber), Levi Allison, and Katie Allison (Jesse); and her beloved grandchildren, Ainsley, Jackson, Cooper, Cole, and Parker. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Charles Housel, and her brothers, Clarence Housel and Mark Housel.

To honor her life services will be held June 25, 2026 6:00-8:00PM First Southern Baptist Church 717 E. 6th St, Cherryvale, Kansas and June 26, 2026 at 10:00AM graveside at Bethel Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
