Clinton Harlan

March 11, 1937 — February 12, 2018

Clinton H. "Papa" Harlan, age 80, of Belle Plaine, Kansas formerly of Independence, Kansas passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

A Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the Celebration of Life Services at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Clinton H. Harlan was born March 11, 1937 in Independence, Kansas to Pearl Isaac and Erma Pauline (Burns) Harlan. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and in 1955 graduated from the Independence High School.

On June 16, 1961 Clint married the love of his life Guyla Ann "Mimi" O'Neal in Kansas City, Missouri. Mimi preceded him in death on January 10th of 2010. The couple made their homes in Belle Plaine and Independence, Kansas. Clint retired from Cessna Aircraft where he worked as a machinist for 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Clint loved to garden, cook, travel, go camping and walk his faithful dog Haddie.

Survivors include one son Gregory Howard and wife Sherri Harlan of Belle Plaine, Kansas; one twin sister Clara Ruth Donaldson of Leanders, Texas; four grandchildren Jared (Sarah) Harlan, Baylee (Paul) Ehrhart, Lucas Krug and Lane (Megan) Krug; six great grandchildren Juliette Harlan, Sawyer Bleakley, Calvin Calbeck, Karver Calbeck, Trevor Calbeck and Remington Terronez-Krug. Clinton was proceeded in death by his parents Pearl and Erma Harlan, brothers William "Dale" Harlan and Glenn Harlan, sisters Jean Mavers and Helen Oberlechner.

In leu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Clint's name with the City of Belle Plaine to plant trees in the community.
