Clarence Leroy Hosier, 89, passed away peacefully Friday, March 15, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor. He was born December 30, 1934, in Fredonia, KS to Roy and Mary Lucy Mae (Shoop) Hosier.
Clarence attended school in Fredonia, graduating from Fredonia High School. He then joined the Air Force but was given a medical discharge due to an injury he had received while playing football in high school.
He married Shirley Romine on September 28, 1956. They lived in Neodesha, Ks for a short time and then settled in Independence, Ks. Clarence worked several different jobs before joining the Electric Gang at the Independence Cement Plant where he worked until his retirement. Clarence was a good carpenter and, according to his grandchildren, was a fixer of all things. Clarence loved to fish and hunt. His favorite thing was visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Hosier and Kenneth Hosier and one sister, Juanita Trammel. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley, his son, Dennis (Janice) Hosier, his daughter (Jay) Vicki Reed, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:00 am with burial immediately following at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. To leave the family a special message of condolence, please visit, www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
