Clara Emerson

Clara M. Emerson, age 98, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at the Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas.

Clara M. Emerson was born May 7, 1916 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Lee and Beatrice Torbert Goodnight. She grew up in Mound Valley, Kansas and graduated Mound Valley High School in 1934. Clara then attended Parsons Junior College.

On March 29, 1939 Clara married Arthur Emerson in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Clara was a homemaker and later work as a bookkeeper for IGA grocery stores in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Clara and Arthur moved to Cherryvale, Kansas in 1970. Arthur preceded her in death in 1992.

Survivors include four sons, Richard Emerson of Dearing, Kansas, Ronald Emerson of Willis, Texas, Michael Emerson of Neodesha, Kansas and Randy Emerson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma one sister Betty Cravens of Olathe, Kansas 15 grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur and one son Lawrence Emerson.
