Christina Jewel (Chiburis) Scott passed away at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing in Baxter Springs, Kansas on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mask are required.
Christina was born on February 1, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska to Sam L. and Leota Ida (Bates) Chiburis. Christina married Henry A. Bruhn and the two welcomed two children, Henry, and Sam. After Henry’s passing in 1973, Christina married Harry Scott on August 12, 1983 in Independence. The two enjoyed 36 years of marriage until he passed away in 2019. Christina worked at Standard Motors/ACC for 50 years before retiring. She loved to quilt and work on various craft projects, she enjoyed trying her luck at the local casinos and playing cards with her friends. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family. Christina was a social butterfly who was always the life of the party, she will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Leota Chiburis, husbands, Henry A. Bruhn and Harry Scott, daughter in-law, Judy Bruhn, brothers, Bill and Mike Joslin, and sisters, Patricia Ollie and Doris Harshbarger.
Her memory will live on with her sons, Henry Bruhn of Neodesha, KS and Sam Bruhn of Baxter Springs, KS, sister, Karole and Larry Turner of Kansas City, MO, brother, Louis Chiburis of Omaha, NE, grandchildren, Jacqueline McKibben of Miami, OK, Harry Bruhn of Coffeyville, KS, and Keifer Bruhn of Nine Palms, CA, and five great grandchildren, Eric, Elijah, Ethan, Emma and Ella.
