Christa G. Conrad passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Cremation has been entrusted with Potts Chapel of Independence Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00am at the Headley Funeral Chapel, 813 State St., in Augusta Kansas. A "Thank You" lunch will follow.
Christa Geneva Conrad was born January 15, 1960 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the daughter of Albert Jr. and Bonnie (Maggard) Brown. She grew up in August, Kansas graduating from Augusta High School in 1978. She married the love of her life Don Conrad on September 30, 1978 in Augusta, Kansas. They made their home there before moving to Independence in 2005 and then to Elk City in 2009.
Christa had worked for the Intrust Bank of Augusta and Eldorado, manager of the Microtel Hotel and the Commerce Bank both in Independence. She also worked at the Mid Kap Headstart in Augusta, earning her Early Childhood Development Certificate through the University of Kansas. She worked as a Paraprofessional for USD 402 at Lincoln Elementary School.
Christa loved her horse Shay and her bull Button dearly and enjoyed raising bottle calves. Mostly, she loved spending time with her husband, sons and grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death are her mother Bonnie J. Brown, brother Albert J. Brown III, sister Rebecca Martin, maternal grandparents; Geneva and Berlie Maggard, paternal grandparents; Christa and Albert J. Brown Sr., brother in law Melvin Little, sister in laws; Nina Norvell and Maxine Little, 4 nieces and nephews and her beloved granddaughter Kylie Conrad.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, sons; Craig and Brandi Conrad of Tonkawa, OK., Heath and Ashley Conrad of Lumberton, TX., and Lucas and Areona Conrad of Wichita, KS., 13 grandchildren; Shalee, Kayla, Lily, Savannah, Jr., Madisyn, Alysa Brown, Angel, Austin, Ashton, Paxton, Rory, and Tatum, her father Albert, sister: Tammy and Mike Kronmiller of Arkansas City, KS., brother: John and Natalie Brown of Wichita, KS., sister: April Brown of Ark City, KS., brother in law: Wesley Little of Benton, KS. and Dale Martin, brother in law and sister in law: Tom and Mary Little of Andover, KS. and Wilma and John Kunkel of Dardanelle, ARK., sister in law: Phyllis Morrison of Fox, ARK. and many aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews.
