Charles W. Shields,57, of Cherryvale, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday December 27, 2011 at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Steve Butler Officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. Visitation hours will be held from Noon to 7:00pm Monday December 26, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. Charles was born November 23, 1954 in Independence, Kansas the son of Charles and Janice Long Shields. He grew up in Cherryvale graduating from the Cherryvale School Systems. Charles Married Elizabeth McGaugh and the couple later divorced. Charles then married Joy Gray in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and they also later divorced. Charles was a Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. Survivors include three sons Bruce Shields of Fort Collins, Colorado, Curtis and Dustin Shields of Independence, Kansas, two brothers Larry and Jimmy Shields of Cherryvale, Kansas.
