Charles Charlie Howard Housel, age 75 of Independence, Kansas passed away, Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery rural Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Class Limited in Parsons, Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Charles Charlie Howard Housel was born October 9, 1936 in rural Cherryvale, Kansas to Theodore and Pauline Morris Housel. He grew up in rural Cherryvale and attended the Cherryvale School System. Charlie worked at Bruest Company in Independence, Kansas and at the Independence Cement Plant for 10 years. On October 5, 1956 Charlie married Ann Hattan in Independence, Kansas where the couple made their home until moving to the family farm. Charlie owned and operated Housel Dozier Service for 25 years and also raised cattle. Charlie loved to hunt and fish and was part owner of the Los Pinos Ranch in Colorado. Survivors include his wife Ann of the home two sons Clarence T. Housel of Independence, Kansas and Mark Edward Housel of Parsons, Kansas one daughter Cindy Allison and husband Ray of Cherryvale three brothers Bob Housel and wife Rose, John Housel and Ted Housel and wife Sonja all of Cherryvale one sister Molly Parker of Coffeyville, Kansas two grandchildren Sheree Shenefield and husband Trent of Overland Park, Kansas and Clint Dean and wife Amber of Cherryvale, Kansas two great grandchildren Ainsley Annmarie Shenefield and Charles Cooper Dean. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Mike Housel and one sister Evelyn Fink.
