Charles Norman Fink, age 91, of Cherryvale, Kansas and formerly of Grove, Oklahoma died Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Dick Drumeller of the Crystalbrook Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Cherryvale Nursing Rehabilitation Center and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel. Norman was born May 25, 1917 in rural Cherryvale, Kansas to Charles O. and Nina E. Vanderpoel Fink. He grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and graduated from the Cherryvale High School as Salutatorian. On April 15, 1943 Norman married Evelyn Irene Housel in Cherryvale, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2007. After graduation from High School, Norman served in the United States Air Force as a pilot and flight instructor for 10 years. After his honorable discharge Norman worked for Continental Can Company before co-founding Bruest Industries. Bruest was sold in 1968 and he and his wife, Evelyn started Charloma Inc. in Cherryvale, Kansas in 1969 and operated the business until their retirement. The business in still operated by the family. Norman farmed in Rural Cherryvale and was a member of the Fortitude Lodge 107 in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include one son Charles O. Fink and daughter Alice L. Wells both of Cherryvale, Kansas; four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Irene; a brother Dighton H. Fink; two sisters Carrie Opal Duby and Erma Fern Humphrey and one granddaughter, Shannon Ward.
