Chuck DeVore, 86, of Independence passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Wilson Medical Center, Neodesha, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 9th at 10:00 am at the Potts Chapel, Independence with the Reverend Darren Melton of the Nazarene Church Independence officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Wounded Warriors and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel, Independence. Chuck was born November 18, 1929 in Clay County Arkansas the son of Edward S. and Mary A. (Larkins) DeVore. He grew up in Clay County and attended the Clay County School System through the twelfth grade. On January 8, 1947 Chuck was united in marriage to Betty King they were later divorced. Chuck was a truck driver and drove for the upstaging entertainment company. Chuck was a life member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. Survivors include two daughters Jina Farmer and husband Mike Zinser Deborah S. Shelby both of Independence, Ks. and two sons Jimmy D. DeVore and Kenny DeVore and wife Sandy also of Independence, fourteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren as well as twenty one great-great grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by one son Ronald D. DeVore and his parents.
