Charles J. Adam, 97 of Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Potts Chapel of Independence officiated by his sons, Pastor Don Adam and Pastor Mike Adam. Charles was born on February 9, 1921 to the late Charles P. and the late Bertha (Boswell) Adam in Independence, Kansas. Charles married Ruby M. Adam on March 8, 1947, in Fredonia, Kansas, and they made their home in Independence for over 68 years. As a hard-working, faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend, he devoted his entire life to the care, provision and protection of all those he loved.
Charles worked for over 46 years for Montgomery County in the County Road and Bridge department. He was a faithful member of Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church, where he was a member since 1952.
Charles J. was preceded in death by his precious wife Ruby, his son, David Adam, his great-grandson, Michael Deon, his daughter-in-law, Bobbie Adam, his sister Mary Jane Phillips, his brothers, Harry, Jack, Billy and Jerry. Survivors include: his sons, Don and wife Karen Adam, Fullerton, CA; Mike Adam, Independence, KS; Pat and wife Sharon Adam, Independence, KS; Jim and wife Gloria Adam, Melbourne, FL; his daughter, Sharon and husband Tom Walter, Independence, KS; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, his wife's favorite charity, and they may be left with the chapel.
