CATHERINE ELAINE HOLYFIELD Catherine Elaine Holyfield, age 85, of Caney, Kansas died Monday, August 15, 2011, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Havana Cemetery with the Chaplain Mike Graham of the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Shriners Childrens Hospital and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Catherine was born November 15, 1925 in Nowata, Oklahoma to William Benjamin and Ione Belle Ferguson Gaut. She grew up in Nowata, Oklahoma and graduated from the Nowata High School in 1943. Catherine then attended the Coffeyville Community College. On May 19, 1967 Catherine married John D. Holyfield Jr. in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. Catherine worked as a secretary for the First Christian Church for 21 years and then for the Assembly of God Church for 2 years both in Coffeyville, Kansas. Catherine was a member of the Eastern Star and taught Sunday school at the First Christian Church and the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband John D. Holyfield Jr. of the home two brothers Kenneth Gaut of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Bob Gaut of Marshfield, Missouri and nieces and nephews.
