Catalina Ervin

Catalina A. Ervin (Cathy), 75, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on January 9, 2020 at her home.

Cathy was born April 30, 1944 in Independence to Socorro and Inez Ortiz.  She attended St. Andrews Catholic School and Independence High School. Cathy married Theodore Solis in February 1968. They had two daughters, Raquel and Adrianna. They later divorced.  Cathy worked at City Publishing Company for many years before moving to Wichita to work for Learjet Aircraft company. She later returned to Independence to be a caregiver for her mother, Socorro Alcantar. She enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren, Faith and Talan and her beloved fur baby, Pretty Boy. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, going dancing and trips to the casino with friends.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Ex-Husband, Ted and brothers Larry Ortiz and Carlos Alcantar.

She is survived by her daughters Raquel Solis (Mike Tate) of Independence, and Adrianna McCabe of Wichita, grandchildren, Faith Tate of Independence and Talan Cary of Wichita, brothers, Jessie Ortiz of Independence, and Raul Alcantar of Topeka, sister, Delores Kitterman of Coffeyville, her many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and great nephews. A Celebration of Cathy’s life will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas on Friday, January 17th at 1:00pm.
