Carol Jontra

Carol Ann Jontra, age 60, of Independence, Kansas died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Carol was born May 15, 1950 in Wichita, Kansas to Oscar and Ann Hughes Gillette. Carol grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from High School in Wichita. Carol then graduated from Butler County Community College and received her masters degree in Special Education at Emporia University. In 1971 Carol married Daryle Jontra and the couple made their home in Elk Falls, Kansas. The couple later divorced. Carol was a teacher in Longton, Kansas and also in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is survived by several cousins, including Vernon Silvers of Branson, Missouri.
