Carol June Dickens, 67, of Independence, KS passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Potts Chapel at 11:00am. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 25th from 5:00-7:00pm.
Carol June Fletcher was born on August 3, 1951 in Smithville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Robert V. and Betty J. (Maddox) Fletcher. She attended school and graduated from the Craig, MO high school in 1969. After graduation she worked for several years at the Farris Truck Stop in Faucet, MO. Later she decided to attend Pittsburg State University and received her Masters of Accounting degree. She opened her own company, Carol Dickens, CPA, LLC in Independence, KS. On June 29, 1989 Carol married Dean Dickens and later divorced.
Carol enjoyed antiquing and gambling. She was most passionate for publishing the hundreds of poems written by her grandmother.
Those preceding her in death were her parents, grandparents: Dana and Nellie Maddox, and brothers: Frank Pooler Jr. and Ronald Lee Fletcher.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister Joyce Honea, brother Rick Fletcher, niece Kristi Ford, nephew Danney Sprueill, 3 great nieces: Kelsey, Bailey and Spencer, and great-great nephew, Stetson and great-great niece, Sterling.
