Carmen M. Rodriguez, 80, of Independence passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Potts Chapel, Independence, with Father Andrew Heiman officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Carmen was born October 30, 1934 in Dewey, Oklahoma the daughter of Eusebio and Petra (Solis) Morales. She grew up in Montana and Colorado and attended the Colorado School System.
In July, 1957 Carmen was united in marriage to Sammy Joe Rodriguez and the couple made their home in Coffeyville, Kansas. In 2000 Sammy preceded Carmen in death.
Carmen worked for several years at the Parsons Ammunition Plant in Parson, Kansas and then at the Spears Manufacturing plant in the palletizing department.
Survivors include one daughter Irene Wright and husband Kevin of Coffeyville, Ks., One son Caesar Rodriguez of Independence, Ks., three sisters Juanita Zamora of Independence, Ks., Isabel Zumwalt of La Junta, Co., and Connie Solis of Pueblo, Co., three brothers Joe Solis Sr. of Independence, Ks., Domingo Solis of Bartlesville, OK., Pascual Solis of La Junta, Co., and 3 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Carmen was preceded in death by her mother Petra Morales Solis, her father Eusebio Morales and step father John B. Solis, three brothers Ted Solis, David Solis, and John Solis, one nephew John Zamora Jr. and one granddaughter Wendy Beard.
