Carl V. Pittman, age 93 of Neodesha, Kansas died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Vintage Park in Neodesha, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Grace Baptist Church in Neodesha, Kansas with the Pastor Jim Logan officiating. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to the Vintage Park of Neodesha, Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Carl was born September 8, 1918 in Elk City, Kansas to John and Lydia May Tice Pittman. He grew up in Elk City, Kansas and graduated from the Elk City High School. In 1941 Carl entered the United States Navy and served during World War II until his honorable discharge. He was proud to have served as a Navy Seabee. In August of 1939 Carl married Doris Westrope and the couple made their home in Las Animas, Colorado and then Neodesha, Kansas before moving to Independence, Kansas in 1958. Prior to him and his family moving to Neodesha, he spent two years working in Colorado. Carl worked for Standard Oil and then as a carpenter until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence, Kansas, the Carpenters Union and was the last living Charter Member of the Neodesha VFW. Survivors include a grandson Craig Pittman and wife Janna of Cheney, Kansas daughterinlaw Deanna Pittman of Grand Lake, Oklahoma one brother Edward Pittman and wife Karen of Kansas City, Missouri great grandchildren Hunter and Morgan Pittman of Pretty Prairie, Kansas and one greatgreat grandchild Aaliyah McGinnis of Pretty Prairie, Kansas. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Doris one son Max Pittman three brothers and two sisters.
