Carl Mishler

March 11, 1935 — December 26, 2018

Carl Lewis Mishler, 83, passed away at Medicalodges of Independence, Kansas on December 26, 2018. Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas on January 2, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be January 3, 2018 at 10:00am at First Southern Baptist Church with interment following at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
On March 11, 1935 Henry Lewis and Mable Mae (Barker) Mishler welcomed Carl Lewis Mishler into this world. Carl attended Racob country school in rural Cherryvale, Kansas. Carl grew up on a farm outside of Cherryvale with his 12 brothers and sisters. On September 4, 1964, Carl married Wanda Foust in Miami, Oklahoma. Carl worked at the "The Original Overhead Door of Tulsa" until 1990 when Carl and Wanda moved to Independence, Kansas. Carl then worked at Independence Overhead Door until retiring in 2000. After retirement, Carl began working as a door greeter at Walmart. He retired once again on his 80th birthday in 2015. In Carl's free time, he enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mable Mishler, brothers, Harold Mishler, Francis Mishler, Frank Mishler, Arthur Mishler, sisters, Margaret Moore, Betty Pogue, Thelma Richardson, and Shirley Barnes.
Those left to cherish Carl's memory, wife Wanda Mishler of Independence, KS, sons, Richard Mishler of Independence, KS, Douglas and wife Mona Edwards of Dallas, TX, Steven Edwards of Tulsa, OK, daughters, Dianna Mishler of Independence, KS, Deanna and husband Randall of Tulsa, OK, brothers, Harry Mishler of Wichita, KS, Dale Mishler of Independence, KS, sisters, Helen Fleenor of Winfield, KS, Dorothy Cole of Independence, Ruth Mishler of Coffeyville, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made in Carl's name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Memorials can be left with Potts Chapel.
