Brian William Yakshaw

Brian W Yakshaw, 59, passed away at his home April 10, 2024.  His eternal resting place will be Lubbock, TX.

Brian was born August 17, 1964 to Rod & Betty (Hilger) Yakshaw in Wichita, KS.  In 1971 the family moved to Independence where Brian graduated Independence High School.  After graduation Brian moved to Lubbock, Texas to attend Texas Tech University.   During his school years, he played football and loved to rodeo, taking on whatever bull was ready to challenge him.   While in Lubbock, Brian was self-employed with B&D Roofing.  After moving back to Independence in 1995, Brian started Sharper Images Co. where he excelled in his business.

On January 26, 1991, Brian married the love of his life Stacey (George) Yakshaw.  Together they had 2 children, Nikki Yakshaw and Beth Yakshaw.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Betty Yakshaw, his older brother Lance Yakshaw, his younger sister Rachel Yakshaw and his brother-in-law Randy George.

Brian loved watching football, watching rodeos, traveling and spending time with his family. He loved history, loved his bronzes and he never out grew watching Disney movies with his girls.  Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Stacey of the home, his children Nikki Yakshaw, Shelby Township, MI, Beth Yakshaw, Asheville, NC and Chance Green, Rose Hill, KS.   His father Rod Yakshaw, sisters Molly (Tim) Messina, New Paltz, NY, Rane (Ryan) Mix, Phoenix, AZ; Mother-in-law Ramona Meise, Elk City, KS, Brother-in-Law, Richard (Diane) George, Coffeyville, KS, Sister-in-Law Teresa (Randy) George, St Robert, MO; and many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial contributions can be made in Brian’s name to Gentiva Hospice or St. Andrew Altar Society or AWOL (Animals with our Love). Family will greet friends at Potts Chapel on Tuesday, April 16th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Reciting of the Rosary immediately following at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 17th at 10:00 am.
