Brenda Ross

Brenda Jane Ross, age 59, of Independence, Kansas passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home in Independence, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the St. Andrews with the Reverend Father Stephen Mahn Thapwa officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 with the family receiving friends after Reciting of the Rosary at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the St. Andrew Catholic School and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Brenda was born October 30, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Matthew and Leola Trembley Kerr. She grew up in Derby, Kansas and graduated from Derby High School in 1969. Brenda graduated from Wichita Business College and Independence Community College before receiving her Bachelors in Nursing from Pittsburg State University. On August 28, 1971 Brenda married Stephen S. Ross in Derby, Kansas. The couple made their home in Independence, Kansas. Brenda worked for Mercy Hospital, Mercy Home Health and the Southeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging for 12 years. She was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church, the St. Andrews Altar Society, the St. Andrew Guitar Choir and the Beta Sigmi Fi for about 10 years. Survivors include her husband Stephen of the home mother Leola Kerr of Derby, Kansas two sons Dustin W. Ross of Frisco, Texas and Kelly R. Ross of Kansas City, Kansas two daughters Christy M. Ross of Independence, Kansas and Karrie A. Fenech of Auburn Hills, Michigan five brothers David Kerr of Flower Mound, Texas, Gary Kerr of Wichita, Kansas, Bill Kerr of Merrian, Kansas Duwayne Kerr of Rose Hill, Kansas and Kenny Kerr of Kingman, Kansas three grandchildren Mickel Warren, Cristofer Warren and Landon Ross and 25 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Matthew Kerr and one brother Kelly Kerr.
