Bobbi Jean Carter, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at her home in Independence, Kansas. Viewing will be Friday, January 2, 2008, from 12:00 PM 8:00 PM. Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, January 2, 2009, at Potts Chapel of Independence and funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2009, at St. Andrews Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Vacca officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Diabetes Association or St. Andrews Catholic School and those may be left with the funeral home. Bobbi was born on April 23, 1930, in Brownsville, Texas, to Milton and Edna Puckett ONeal. In 1960 she married James Earl Hughes in Louisiana and he passed away in 1997. On January 26, 1998, she married Jack Carter in Independence and he survives of the home. Bobbi worked for SKIL as a caregiver. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Chuck Hughes, Texas; Frank Hughes, Arkansas; Brent Roberts, Kansas; and Michael Hughes, Virginia; one daughter, Jennie Myers, Kansas; three brothers; five sisters; sixteen grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
