Bill G. Shannon, 80, of Liberty died Thursday at his home. Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, at the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Graham Chaplin of Harry Hynes Hospice officiating under the direction of Potts Chapel Cherryvale. Visitation will be Tuesday 9:00 am until 7:00 pm at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale, Kansas with family receiving friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Potts Chapel. Bill was born July 7, 1931, in Parson, Kansas the son of James T. and Martha Sturivant Shannon. He attended the Parson school system. Bill grew up in Parsons and in 1966 moved to Liberty. On June 2, 1951 Bill was united in marriage to June Lyles in Parson, Kansas. The couple moved to Liberty and she survives at the home. Bill was the owner and operator of a Exterminating Business from which he retired in 2009. Bill then work on lawn mowers and enjoyed fishing and was a strong Kansas City Chief fan. Survivors are his wife June of the home, one son Terry Shannon and Wife Darlene of Jefferson, Kansas, two daughters Tracy Etzold and Husband Bill of Independence, Kansas, Vicki Bobo and Husband Michael of Independence, Kansas. Four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
