Bill Kemp, age 84, of Independence, Kansas died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Potts Chapel Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 With the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts chapel Independence, Kansas Reverend Jerry Botts will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction Of Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Bill was born August 21, 1927 in Cedarvale, Kansas, son of John Ella Wall Kemp. He grew up in Independence, Kansas, attending Independence School system. On February 18, 1956 Bill was united in marriage to Nelda Prather in Miami, Oklahoma. Nelda survives at the home Bill worked at Starcraft. He then was partner in Botts Kemp Construction. Bill also worked for Hackney Sons retiring after 11 years. Survivors include, Nelda of the home, one daughter Karla Kemp Independence, Ks. 3 brothers, Robert Kemp of Garlon, Tx. Bud Kemp of Independence, Ks, Richard Kemp of Independence, Ks One sister Betty Hurst of Ada, Oklahoma. One granddaughter, two great grandchildren.
