Beverly Joan Hudson, born March 5th, 1930, in Chanute, KS; passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2026, at Credo Senior Living Center in Independence, KS. She was the daughter of Don T. Helm and Christine “Cricket” Shirk Helm.
The family moved to Independence and she attended Independence schools; graduating Independence High School in 1948.
Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Bill M. Hudson, January 21st, 1949, and they had four children. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Her professional career consisted of 6 years at Southwestern Bell and 30 years for USD 446 as junior high secretary and district board clerk retiring in 1990.
Beverly loved to travel, camp, play pinochle with her card club, jigsaw puzzles and crochet. Most of all, she cherished time with family.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Christine Helm, her sisters, Donna and Pat Helm, her beloved husband, Bill M. Hudson, and her son, Stephen M. Hudson.
Beverly is survived by her loving children: Connie (Martin) Weiss of Albuquerque, New Mexico, David (Kathy) Hudson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Wendy (Phillip) Fienen of Independence, Kansas. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Mike (Melanie) Sparks, Brandon (Jennifer) Weiss, Brittany (Dee) Dominguez, Brad (Amy) Hudson, Sally (Blake) Christian, Tracey (David) Bartz, and Scott (Alicia Wondra) Fienen, along with 19 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Beverly Joan Hudson. The opportunity to view the urn and sign the register book will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, at Potts Chapel from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Beverly's memory to FORPAZ, AWOL Humane Society, or Harry Hynes Hospice.
