Betty Murch

Betty R. Murch, age 86, died on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at her home. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 9, at 10:00 am at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Willie Jones officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence. Memorials may be made to the Grace United Memorial Methodist Church Betty was born on January 26, 1924 in Ponca city, Oklahoma to John and Maude V. Kimry Maugans. She graduated from Independence High School in 1943. She worked at Glencliff Creamery , Parsons Ordinance Plant , Electra in Independence, and the Professional Building for 13 years. Betty was the past President of the Ladies Auxilliary Postal Clerks of Independence Post Office , a lifetime member of the VFW, and was active in art exhibits for several years. She married Dale L. Murch on April, 26, 1948 in Independence, Kansas. Mr. Murch proceeded her in death on Sept. 9, 2004 Betty is survived by one brother, Donald Maugans and his wife, Phyllis, of Independence, Ks., 1 grandson, 1 great grandson, and nieces and nephews.
