Betty Arlene McGuire, age 95, of Independence, KS, passed peacefully into heaven on November 22, 2020.
She was born on January 2, 1925, in Independence, KS, fourth of five daughters to Robert Burns and Nona Mae Donaldson. She lived her entire life in Independence and attended public schools there. On February 16, 1943, she married Rex M. McGuire. She was a homemaker and celebrated 53 years of marriage with Rex who passed away on Dec. 16, 1996. On Dec. 6, 1936, she joined the First Baptist Church and had attended almost every single Sunday for 81 years. Recently she had been attending the Wesleyan Church. Her love for the Lord, her daily devotionals and music were such an important part of her daily life.
She is survived by her son, Jim McGuire (Sondra), Fairview, TX; two granddaughters, Trace McGuire, Westminister, CO and Angela McGuire, Dallas, TX; one great granddaughter, Rain Casurole, Pittsburg; her daughter, Linda Fisk (Jim), Russellville, AR; her nieces Carol Kemp, Rockport, TX, Connie Ring, Springfield, CO, Suzy Doane, Brighton, CO, Kathy Stone, St. Paul,NE, and Teresa Lewis, Independence and nephews Neil McGuire and David Bennett, Independence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters, Aldeen Andrews, Juanita Kulp, Roberta McGuire and Jean Bennett. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel and there will be a graveside burial at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
