Bernice Irene Dye, 87, of Independence, died Monday at her home. Celebration of Life Services well be held Friday, at 10:00am August 5, 2011 at Potts Chapel, Independence with the Reverend Rex Rictor of the First Assembly of God Church, Independence officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, under the direction of Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, August 4th, 2011 from 8:00am to 8:00pm at Potts Chapel with family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Bernice was born December 21, 1923, in Batesville, Georgia, the daughter of Terrell and Vavlah Carson Franklum. She attended the Northern Detroit Michigan School system. On December 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Charles Roger Dye Sr. in Detroit Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2003. She work in Detroit for the Cadillac Motor Company in the Air Plane division she built air plane parts for the war effort. Was know as one of the Rosey Riveters during the war as many women were called during that time of the war effort. Bernice spent many years as a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church Independence also was a deaconess of the church. Survivors are a son Charles Roger Dye Jr., and wife Robin of Independence, two sisters Margart Faleer and Carol Parush of Michigan, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
