BARNETT BARNEY ALTON JUMP NEWS MEDIA NOTIFICATION Barnett Barney A. Jump, age 89, of Caney, Kansas died Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was receiving care from Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Sixtus Ye Myint officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday August 19, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Caney American Legion and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Barney was born June 19, 1920 in Sparta, Kentucky to Hubert Vernon and Mary Louise Bickers Jump. He grew up in Green County, Kentucky and graduated from the Crittenden High School in 1938. After graduation Barney entered the United States Army Air Corp. and served during World War II in the Panama Canal until his honorable discharged. In 1945 Barney married Mary Babe Howard in Great Bend, Kansas where they made their home. The couple also lived in Denver, Colorado, Liberal, Kansas before moving to Caney, Kansas in 1973. Barney drove a truck for King Van Lines before becoming an Independent driver. He was known nationwide as Sneaky Pete. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Caney Golf Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved to bowl and fish. Survivors include his sister Eunice Brandenburg and husband John of Cincinnati, Ohio; Brother-in-law John Stoney Howard of Caney, Kansas; Neices Julia and husband Rob Stockover of Caney, Kansas, Mary Holeman of Independence, Kansas, Nephews James Howard and wife Cari of Nevada, Missouri, John Howard of Denver, Colorado, and Stephen Barnett Walden, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Great Nieces and Nephews, Ian Schooley of Seattle, WA, Chistopher and wife Sarah Grace Schooley of Fort Collins, CO, Sarah Katherine Schooley of Chicago, IL, Adam Schooley of Kentucky, Matthew Schooley of Greeley, Ks, Joseph and Jacob Howard both of Denver, Colorado, Joshua and Jared Howard both of Caney, Kansas, Lee Burge and wife Sarah of Clarksville, MO, Mary Ruth Bambico of Kaufman, Tx, Jason Walden, Laura Berger and Jennifer Schweitzer all of Cincinnati, OH; Great Great Nieces and Nephews Amelia and Hazel Schooley, Breana Burge, Andrea Russell, Leah, Levi and Shilah Burge, C.J., Savanah and Zackery Bambico, Lucas Walden, Alex, Abbi, A.J.
