Barbara Ann Stroble passed away peacefully at Eagle Estates in Independence, KS on August 9, 2025.
She was born on July 19, 1940, to Raymon and Marguerite Hills. After high school she married John Littau and together they had four sons: Johnny, Lee, Bobby, and Christopher. Following their divorce, she later married John Stroble on September 25, 1999, and they shared many happy years together until his passing.
She is lovingly survived by her sons: Lee Littau, Bobby (Kathy) Littau, and Christopher (Jennifer) Littau. Barbara was a proud and devoted grandmother to Tosh (Tara) Littau, Shayla Littau, Danielle (Kyle) Martin, Lakin Huckabey, Chayce (Alyssa) Littau, Shawn (Tori) Littau, Jaicey (Jake) Gillum, Megan (Ben) Sedlacek, Kearstin (Reb) Sullenger, and Kaitlin (Devon) Beisly. She was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, each of whom brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Jimmie Hills.
She was welcomed into eternity by her beloved husband, John Stroble; her cherished son, Johnny Littau; her loving parents, Raymon and Marguerite Hills; her dear sister, Betty Paine; and her precious grandson, Nicholas Littau.
Barbara will be remembered for her feisty spirit, sharp wit, and the fierce love she had for her family. As the mother of four ornery boys, she had to be tough — and she was. She never missed a chance to show up for those she loved, whether it was a birthday, school event, wedding, or Sunday church with her grandson Tosh and his family. Barbara was known for always looking her best — never without her lipstick, with her hair perfectly done and a pair of boots to match every outfit. She had a serious sweet tooth, and no birthday was complete without her favorite pineapple upside-down cake. Her strength, style, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed — a bold and beautiful legacy that lives on in everyone who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm, at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Funeral services will be Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10am, located at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
