Barbara Mcminn

Former long-time Independence resident, Barbara Jeane McMinn, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend, passed away May 19th 2017 at Harry Hines Hospice/ Via Christi Hospital in Wichita KS, after a short hospitalization. Barbara had been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. She had resided with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Dave Blakemore in Wichita KS, since 2013.
Barbara Caflisch was born on September 27th 1928 to Leo and Anna (Meyer) Caflisch in Independence KS, she graduated from Zion Lutheran School and Independence High School. She was a life-long member Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. On September 30th 1950 she married Oscar S. McMinn, Mr. McMinn died November 1st 1960. She was a retired associate of the JC Penney Company in Independence, where she worked for nearly 30 years following the death of her husband.
Barbara is survived by three Children: James McMinn of Independence KS, Carolyn (Dave) Blakemore of Wichita KS, and Kellie (Don) Eckles of Lee's Summit, MO, and Seven Grandchildren: James McMinn II, Oklahoma City, OK, Melissa McMinn, Groveland, CA, Dr. James Blakemore, Lawrence, KS, Andy (Nicole) Blakemore, Atlanta, GA, Allison Blakemore, Wichita, KS, Tyler Eckles, Independence, MO, and Ben Eckles, Lee's Summit, MO. She was preceded in death by husband, parents, brother Herb Caflisch, and granddaughter Tara Eckles.
A private family burial service is planned. A service of remembrance will be held Friday May 26th 2017 at 2:00pm at the Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, KS, In Lieu of flowers - Memorials to the Zion Lutheran School and Church are suggested, online condolences can be left to the family by going to www.pottsfuneralhome.com
