Duane Triebel, 69, of Rural Elk City, Kansas passed away Tuesday at the Medicalodge in Independence.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Independence and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Elk City, Kansas with the Reverend Terry Marta officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Lake Creek Cemetery in rural Barlett, Kansas.
The family will be receiving friends Friday July 24, 2015 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Elk City from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or the National Rifle Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence.
Duane was born April 4, 1946 in Parsons, Kansas the son of Arthur and Amy (Hinkle) Triebel.
He grew up in Rural Mound Valley, Kansas. He attended and graduated from the Altamont School System. He then attended Labette County Community College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Construction Management.
On September 23, 1967 Duane was united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas to Kay Haymaker and the couple made their home in Rural Elk City, Kansas. Kay survives at the home.
Duane worked as an independent Building Contractor in the Independence area for over forty five years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a collector of Arrowheads and Indian Artifacts. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Elk City.
Survivors include his wife Kay of 47 years at the home one son Arthur Duane and wife Casey Triebel of Texarkana, TX., one daughter Kristie Kay and husband Jamon Hawley of rural Elk City, KS., two sisters Donna Engleman of Independence, KS., and Etta Welch of Rural Mound Valley, KS., three grandsons Trevor Hawley, Zachary Millemon and Garrett Duane Millemon.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Leon Triebel and Monte Schroeder.
