Arthur Corky Gordon Scott, age 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the Reverend Dr. John Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the St. Marks United Methodist Church or the St. Francis Hospice and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Arthur Corky Gordon Scott was born June 20, 1922 in rural Peru, Kansas to Isaac Peter and Nellie Ann Chance Scott. He grew up in Niotaze, Kansas and graduated from the Peru High School in 1940. Corky then attended Pittsburg State College before going to San Diego, California to work for Consolidated. He moved back to Niotaze, Kansas and married Barbara Barnhart in Emporia, Kansas on October 21, 1942. In 1943 Corky entered the United States Army Air Corp and served three years during World War II. After returning from the service Corky went to the Kansas City School of watch making. Corky then moved to Caney, Kansas and worked at D.M. Leach Jewelry Store. He then owned and operated Scotts Jewelry store in Caney, Kansas. In the fall of 1962 the couple moved to Neosho, Missouri and Corky worked for Rocketdyne for about six years. In August of 1967 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and Corky worked for American Airlines until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the St. Marks United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Barbara of the home; daughter Karen Kent Notestine of Wichita, Kansas; son Douglas Mary Martha Scott of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Son Kirwin Mary Jane Scott of Inola, Oklahoma; granddaughters Kris Brown of Ottawa, Kansas, Sarah Daniel Corlett of Talala, Oklahoma, and Hannah Scott; Grandsons Kelly Dusty Notestine of Hutchinson, Kansas, Andrew Scott of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Isaac Amos Scott of Inola, Oklahoma; sister Katherine Graham of Ponca City, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren.
