Arthur Foraker

Arthur Ray Foraker, 62, Independence, Kansas passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Independence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Potts Chapel of Independence with Reverend David Oxley of Eagles Crest Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Honors provided. Friends may register on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 9:00 a.m., 8:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m., at the chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Willing Hearts and Helping Hands Employee Assistance Program at Standard Motors and may be left with the funeral home. Arthur was born September 27, 1950 in El Dorado, KS to Ray and Flora Reed Foraker. The family moved to Independence in 1953 and Arthur attendee and graduated from Independence Schools. After graduation Arthur enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea after his honorable discharge from the army Arthur continued his military career with enlistment in the reserves while working at ACCStandard Motors for over 40 Years until his retirement on March 30, 2013. During the past 12 years Arthur was also employed as a part time checker for Wal Mart in Independence while working both jobs Arthur also found time to be active in both the American Legion and the V.F.W. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Billy Foraker. Survivors include his brother Ben Foraker, Independence, KS four sisters, Elva Simmons, Jackie Hise, Mary House, all of Independence, KS Peggy Miller Coffeyville, KS and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
