Arrina M. Irene Roose, age 88 of Independence, Kansas formerly of Benkelman, Nebraska passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Visitation Hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman, Nebraska. Burial will follow in the Benkelman Cemetery under the direction of the Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman, Nebraska. Arrina M. Irene Roose was born May 18, 1922 in Laird, Colorado to Arthur A. and Gladys Pearl Lovell Hanshaw. In 1936 Irene and family moved to Parks, Nebraska. Irene graduated from Parks High School in May of 1941. On December 8, 1942 Irene married Gerald J. Plucker and the couple later divorced. Irene was a nurse in Benkleman, Nebraska Sarah Ann Hester memorial home in 1958. From 1960 to 1963 she worked for Benkelman Hospital. In 1963 she worked at the McCook Hospital for one year. In 1964 Irene worked for the Hillcrest Nursing Home until 1967 in McCook, Nebraska. Irene then worked at the Ogallala Nebraska Nursing Home from 1967 to 1971. Irene then worked until her retirement in 1982 at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton, Nebraska. Irene went to North Platte, Nebraska college and received her LPN in 1976. Irene married Ernest Roose and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1992. In 2002 Irene moved to Havana, Kansas to be with her daughter due to health reasons. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Caney, Kansas. Before her eye sight diminished Irene loved to crochet was a avid bowler and loved to dance. Survivors include four children Gerald D. Plucker of Blandon, Pa, Alvin H. Plucker of LaSalle, Colorado, Shirley R. Filsinger of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Penny J. Parker of Havana, Kansas one sister Mary Louise Robens of Albuquerque, New Mexico 11 grandchildren, Tony Plucker, Mark Plucker, Artie Plucker, Crystal Baker, Martin Plucker, Bobby Filsinger, Rodney Filsinger, Billy Filsinger, Ronnie Filsinger, Brent Parker, Ben Parker several great grandchildren and several step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
