Arloa Nadine (Morris) Farlow

Arloa Nadine (Morris) Farlow, 100, of Independence, Kansas went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025.

Born August 29, 1924, Nadine was the second of six children, born to James and Eva Belle (Haines) Morris. She lived her entire life within 15 miles of her birthplace. Nadine attended a one-room schoolhouse known as Rutland School and then attended Independence High School.

On April 25, 1943, Nadine married Wayne C. Farlow in Bolton, Kansas. While Wayne served in World War II, Nadine worked at the Independence Army Air Corps Base near Independence, Kansas and then for the Civil Service Office. After Wayne returned from WWII, they purchased a farm Southwest of Independence where they welcomed three children, Clayton, Jim, and Robin. Nadine and Wayne were married for 66 Years, and he proceeded her in death in 2009.

She helped with all aspects of the farm from milking cows, feeding chickens, gardening, driving the baler to put up hay, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Recipes have been handed down for homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, chicken and noodles, pies, and cakes. She decorated cakes for many years making hundreds of birthday, wedding, and seasonal cakes. She attended Bolton Friends Church and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She loved to sew, crochet, knit, and quilt (making quilts for all her children and grandchildren).

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Eva Belle Morris; husband, Wayne C. Farlow; brothers; Don Morris and Jack Morris and sister, Jeanette Bryan and grandson-in-law, Max Hammontree.

Nadine’s memory will live on with her sons Clayton Wayne (Clara) Farlow of Independence, William James/Jim (Carol) Farlow of Sanger, Texas; daughter Robin Elaine (Kevin) Brannum of Liberty; brother Bill (Betty) Morris, sister Mina Watts and grandchildren, Cindy (Dan) Peschel, Cameron Farlow, Roxanne HammonTree, Amy Strunk, Ramah Nation, ReAnna Browning, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Connie Chapman (Nadine’s caregiver for 7 years), Credo Senior Living and Harry Hynes Hospice for their amazing care. Memorials can be made to Bolton Friends Church or Harry Hynes Hospice.

The family will visit with friends and family from 9:30 – 10:30a.m., prior to the service at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 6, at Potts Chapel with Grady Miller, Pastor of Bolton Friends Church officiating. Graveside service at Harrisonville Cemetery will follow.
