Arietta Oliphant

Arietta Pearl Oliphant, age 99, of Wichita, Kansas formerly of Cherryvale, Kansas died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Deseret Nursing Home in Wichita, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Hospice Care of Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Arietta was born March 1, 1913 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Cass and Frankie Stall Jones. She grew up in Pittsburg and attended schools in the Pittsburg area. On July 4, 1934 Arietta married James Franklin Oliphant in Cherokee, Kansas. The couple made their home in Pittsburg, before moving to Cherryvale and then Wichita, Kansas. After retirement the couple returned to the farm near Cherryvale, Kansas. Arietta was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Parsons Branch. She was sealed in Temple in Dallas, Texas. Survivors include one son James F. Oliphant Jr. of Winfield, Kansas one daughter Virginia Murphy of Wichita, Kansas 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
