Annetta More

Annetta Faye Oliphant More, age 91, of Independence, Ks. passed away December 16, 2010 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Ks. She was born in Cherryvale, Ks. on August 25, 1919 to Clyde and Anna Hornback Oliphant and grew up in the Cherryvale and Mound Valley, Ks. area, graduating from the Mound Valley High School in 1937. On July 18, 1937 she was united in marriage to Glen More of Mound Valley where they resided and together they owned and operated the Phillips 66 station known as the Glen More Service Station and Grocery for over 40 years. Annetta was active in the Methodist Church, a 4H Club Leader and other civic organizations for many years while being a wonderful mother to her three daughters. Upon retirement Annetta and Glen moved to Grove, Okla. where they enjoyed many hours of fishing on Grand Lake. Upon Annettas declining health, they relocated to Independence, Ks. to be near their daughter, Beverly. Annetta was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Velma Oliphant Carlson and one brother, Vesper Oliphant. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Glen, of the home of 73 years her three daughters, Carole Jim Lewis of Rogersville, Mo., Beverly Kaye Curtis Schmitz of Independence, Ks., and Pamela Rick of Terrell, Tx., along with six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many friends and family members. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Potts Chapel, 112 S. Penn in Independence. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Mound Valley. Burial will follow in the Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
