Alta Allie Tennyson, 44, of Iola, Kansas passed away Tuesday at the St. Luke Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas with Pastor Mike Adam of the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Independence officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel.
The family had suggested memorials to the St. Judes Children Hospital and contributions may be left at the Potts chapel.
Alta was born June 1, 1969 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Forrest D. Sr. and Orella Lee Ford Tennyson. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from the Humboldt school system.
Alta then attended Pittsburg State University where she received her Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education and minor in Sociology.
Alta worked as an Administration Specialists at the Freeman Medical Center in Joplin. Missouri.
Survivors include her fiancee Gregg Korte of Iola, Ks., one daughter Stevie Bulger and husband Jaime of Webb City, Mo., two sons Malchi Schicke of Joplin, Mo., Dominic Ferguson of Spring, Tx., three brothers Forrest Tennyson Jr. and wife Norene of Coffeyville, Ks., Marion Tennyson of Erie, Ks., David Tennyson of Independence, Ks., two sisters Barbara Adam and husband Mike of Independence, Ks., Cassandra McKellips and husband Richard of Manhattan, Ks., two grand children Landen Warden and Emmie Bulger.
