Albertice "Bert" R. Bale Jr. 85, of Independence, Kansas passed away Tuesday at the St Francis Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Independence and a Graveside Service on June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. If raining, it will be held at The Church of God in Independence.
The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Coffeyville, Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Bert was born January 23, 1930 in Pierceville, Kansas the son of Albertice and Olga (Morgan) Bale Sr. He grew up in Cullison, Kansas attending the Cullison School System.
Bert Joined the United States Marines in 1951 serving in Korea while in Korea he was wounded in battle and received three purple hearts and was honorably discharged in 1953.
On December 27, 1953 Bert was united in marriage to Marilyn Epley in Pratt, Kansas and the couple made their home in Pratt and later moved to Independence. Marilyn preceded Bert in death.
Bert worked as a Die Cast Operator for Emerson Electric.
He was a member of the American Legion post ten in El Dorado, Arkansas and the VFW Post in Independence.
Survivors include two daughters Margo McFarland and husband Gary of Houston, TX., Valerie Bale of Independence, KS., three sons Rockland "Rocky" Bale and wife Dorothy of Junction City, ARK., Rod Bale and wife Stacy of Reed Springs, MO., and Randy Bale of Independence, KS., thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
