Alan Leach

January 22, 1959 — January 6, 2015

Alan R. Leach, age 55, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Georgia after a brief illness.

Alan was born the son of Wilma and Adin Leach on January 22, 1959 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He attended St. Andrews Catholic School in Independence, Kansas and high school at St. Henry's Preparatory Seminary in Belleville, Illinois. Alan was a graduate of Creighton University with a BA in Philosophy in 1981.

Alan entered First Religious Profession Novitiate with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) in Godfrey, IL and then Catholic University in Washington, D.C. where he completed two years of theology. Alan worked with law firms in Washington, D.C., the last 15 years for Arent Fox Law Firm as research and documentation analyst.

Alan loved family and friends, books, the opera, classical music and sports, especially Creighton Blue Jays Basketball. He was a member of St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include his parents and sisters, Angie Plaisance and husband Marc, Peachtree City, GA; Amy Stephens and Mark Ferrell, Independence, KS; Dee Dee O'Malley and husband Mike, Independence, Ks; Alison Leach, Fort Scott, KS; and Mimi Turner and husband Josh, Ottawa, KS; two aunts and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Father Andrew Heiman, officiant.

The family has suggested memorials to the Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, Georgia 30291 or contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel.
